After having a severe allergic reaction during a simple medical procedure, Oum went into a coma and was hospitalized in Jan., 2015. During his time in the hospital, co-founder of Rooster Teeth Productions, Burnie Burns asked for fans to donate money to help Oum’s family cover his medical expenses. The goal of $50,000 was reached within three hours, and exceeded $150,000 in 24 hours.

Despite fighting hard and receiving the best medical care available, Oum’s body could not recover from the allergic reaction and he passed at 4:34 p.m. on Feb. 1, 2015. He was 33 years old.

As a fan of all of Oum’s work with Rooster Teeth, I am greatly saddened at his death and curious to see how his work will be continued. He was a major animator for Rooster Teeth on both of their popular web shows, Red vs Blue and RWBY. He was a major creative force and was an amazing person.
