No More Worries About The North

North Korea’s Artillery Barrage Is Not A Threat

North Korea turned heads when the building of their new nuclear reactor and uranium enrichment plant was discovered. Bringing worse news was the artillery barrages between North andSouth Korea that only added to the years of tension between the two countries. Although the attacks from North Korea were serious, they are not considered a crisis.

Though it can be seen as a threat, the situation of security has not changed. North Korea has not reproduced any new or enhanced plutonium bombs, the amount is still the same. There are no capabilities of transportation, either aircraft or missile, and the program remains the same or perhaps more eroded than before.

The former head of the Los Alamos Nuclear Laboratory’s report seemed to have been taken out of context. The new facilities that have been built in North Korea, though they are able to create bombs,  have only replaced the previous facilities and are not the quickest way for North Korea to create them. Uranium weapons are larger than plutonium making them unfit to be placed in a warhead.

This information helps set minds to ease. With the knowledge that North Korea is unable to create larger and more massive bombs in their new facilities proves that North Korea is not a major threat and the artillery barrage with South Korea is not a crisis.
