The Texas A&M Aggies are one of many schools planning to move into a different conference. The Big 12 Conference, one of the power houses in the last decade, has only 10 teams left as the Aggies make their transition to the Southeastern Conference.
Texas A&M University’s move to the SEC conference will place them in the most dominant group of football teams in the past five years. The SEC has claimed the last five national champions.
Texas A&M is currently ranked no. 8 in the nation and have a good shot to win national title, if they can put together a string of big wins. The Big 12 Conference is down to 10 teams after Nebraska and Colorado Universities left for other conferences. Texas A&M has increased its chances of winning a championship by playing in a proven league of teams.
Roosevelt coach Muha is having reservations about the move to the SEC.
“I don’t think its a good idea, but look at our ranking this year, we have a great shot this year,” Muha, said.
With Texas A&M making the move, the university will also be giving other SEC teams a better shot to recruit their players in the lone star state. When Texas A&M follows through and departs, there will only be four power house schools left in the Big 12…Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State.
“I don’t like the idea of Texas A&M leaving because if we do there will only be nine teams left in the Big 12. The Big 12 will be broken up.” Muha said.
Texas A&M has been known to have some of the loudest most and and exciting crowds in college football. When they go, Aggies fans will support their school no matter what.
“As Aggies, we love our school no matter what. We will support them with their decision,” Ms. Malonavich, said.
In conclusion, Texas A&M leaving will change college football forever, it will play a big role on other schools staying or leaving.
Texas A&M will break the Big 12 conference when they leave. The Aggies’s decision on going to the SEC was made in the hopes of winning a championship and diehard Aggies fans will and have supported it for the most part.
