Two students place at Battle of Flowers

Two students’ artwork was recognized for the cover contests of the Battle of Flowers Band Festival Program.

Senior Ashliegh Askew placed second, narrowly missing a threepeat of the top award in the contest. She won a cash prize of $200. Askew’s inspiration was her teacher. She said she changes things up each year, knowing that the judges like clean work and bold colors.

The top five winners receive cash awards with first prize being $400, second prize of $200,  third prize $150, and two honorable mention prizes of $100 each.

Freshman Eliciana Rodriguez Barroso also received recognition her artistic merit in the competition.
