All Pink For Pink Out

Its October and that means breast cancer awareness month.

Breast cancer awareness is celebrated in high schools in America by during what’s called Pink Out week.

Roosevelt High School’s Pink Out was the week of Oct. 17th-21. Each day had a spirit day and many students and teachers took a part in them.

Monday was “Sock It To Breast Cancer,” and was celebrated by wearing long pink socks.

Tuesday was “Save The Tutus,” and students wore pink tutus to save the “tutus”.

Wednesday was “Way Back Wednesday,” and many students wore their past pink out shirts from years before.

Thursday was “Be Aware! Be Bright!”, many people wore bright neon pink shirts.

Friday was “TR Pink Out Spirit,” students and teachers wore their 2016 Roosevelt Pink Out shirts that were either sold by the TR Trainers or Student Council.

Saturday’s pink out game ended with a score of 25 – 34 against Churchill, with Roosevelt losing.

“I think we should’ve won, but it just came down to the last minute and we just couldn’t pull through,” junior David Pavon, varsity football player, said.

Even though Roosevelt took a loss students still had a great time at the game with the Pink Out spirit.

“What I like the most about Pink Out is that we actually celebrate something that should be celebrated,” senior Ashley Alfaro, said. “Also the color pink and how there’s so much joy and it’s fun.”
