The Rough Rider Battalion’s Orienteering team participated in the first orienteering meet of the 2018-18 school year Oct. 13. The team secured multiple places, setting them up for a good competition season for the 2018-219 school year.

“Orienteering was difficult, tiring and dangerous,” said sophomore Hayden Tolliver, a new member of the team. “I had a lot of fun with my partner and we worked together very well.”

The team consists of four skill levels: beginner, intermediate, advanced, and varsity. Both the female advanced and varsity teams took second place in their respective divisions.

“Honestly I think we [the girls varsity team] did stupendous,” junior Eunice Patton said. “We had one girl on the team that was having a hard time breathing because of all the running, but she did awesome anyway. We kept pushing each other and we found most of the points so I think we did well. I really enjoyed it.”
