Chris Brierly, Lieutenant Governor Elect meets Caitlyn Crumrine, the current Lieutenant Governor.

At the annual Key Club Divisional Election Conference, sophomore Chris Brierly was elected to be Lieutenant Governor of Division 5 of the Texas-Oklahoma Key Club District. He will be sworn in on April 17 at the Texas-Oklahoma District Convention in Dallas.

As Lieutenant Governor, Brierly will be responsible for supporting and growing Key Clubs in the area. He will be the executive officer of Division 5 and will preside over all division conferences and meetings. His duties include sending out newsletters and conducting four Presidential Council Meetings for clubs in the division. He will also host the Fall Training Conference for club officers at the beginning of the school year and the Division Election Conference next January.

His goals are to visit each club in the division and to facilitate contact between the district and clubs.  He plans on helping clubs to manage reports, elections, dues, and projects.

“I hope to improve communication between clubs by using newsletters, Facebook, and a division webpage. I want to improve the communication between clubs and the district, try to start clubs in schools that don’t have one, and do as much good as I can.”

Attending monthly Kiwanis meetings will help him keep other clubs in the area updated on upcoming Key Club events.  His responsibilities also include planning divisional service projects. He has currently planned 2 events: The March of Dimes Walk for Babies and Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

“I wanted to make a difference not just in the Johnson Key Club but on a larger level also,” Brierly said. “Since I will be attending so many of the District events, it will make communication easier and our club will have a clearer idea of what we should be doing on a larger level.”

He hopes that clubs will continue make a big impact in the community.

“I will encourage clubs in our division to participate in at least on service project on a local, national, and international level.”
