The boys varsity and junior varsity wrestling teams are set to dual at Churchill this Thursday for the face-off of the year.

“They’re a very good team,” sophomore Josue Oritz said. “Before we came around they were the three time district champs.”

The varsity team has remained undefeated all season, even after a dual with Reagan where the Jags came back from behind and dominated the Rattlers 45-37.

“We haven’t lost any district duals,” Ortiz said. “We’ve also gotten first in two tournaments.”

“I’ve lost a few matches,” senior Zack Gerner said. “But we’ve been doing really well all around.”

The Jaguars expect domination this Thursday against the Chargers, though their past records may be daunting.

“We’re gonna beat them for sure, it’s not going to be close,” Gerner said. “They’re kind of our rival, so we have to win.”

A win against the Chargers will propel the chances for the Jags into good placement in playoffs at the end of the season.

“We’re just gonna need to be concentrated on out matches so we can go out and win,” Ortiz said.

“We just need to work hard,” Gerner said. “And have our boys win their weights.”
