The Johnson track team showed outstanding talent at their first track meet this week with the boys and girl team combined into one meet. It was also one of the only occasions the JV and varsity squads will run together until district at the end of the year. All four teams got outstanding results at the NEISD meet at Heroes Stadium.

“Girls’ and boys’ varsity got first, and JV boys got first and JV girls got second,” junior Chad Wagner said.

This was the first meet of the Jaguar track season, though the freshman only meet earlier in the week.

“It was super fun, except for the weather,” senior Ayssa Garcia said.

The girls’ varsity relays did spectacular with a 2nd place in 4×1, 1st in the 4×2 , and 2nd in the 4×4.

“I was happy with my results, I got second in triple jump, but overall as a team we did great,” Garcia said.

This was the first meet, and for many athletes, just a taste of what’s to come in the season.

“I ran both the 100m and 300m hurdles. It was fun and scary,” Wagner said.

The varsity team also placed well in the South San Relays, with boys getting 1st and girls getting 5th. Next weekend they will partake in the Judson Relays at Rutledge Stadium.
