Brahmas Fall to Rattlers, 57-61

Monday, January 10, the MacArthur Brahmas (20-4) played the Reagan Rattlers (19-4) in their fourth district game this year. Coming off a tough four point loss to Churchill on Saturday, the Brahmas were determined to shut down the tough Rattlers offense that is averaging almost 66 points a game.

“[Reagan’s] two best players are Max Yon who has already sighned to play at Air Force and Tre Demps who has signed to play at Northwestern. They are both very good shooters and really can score from anywhere on the floor,” MacArthur Head Coach Mark Murphy said.

With Max Yon out due to injury, Tre Demps knew going into this game that he would be looked at to provide the offensive spark for Reagan. With his father, Dale Demps, General Manager for the New Orleans Hornets, in the stands, Tre did not disappoint. He unloaded 35 points on Mac and pushed the Rattlers onto a 61-57 victory.

The Brahmas fought valiantly after trailing by 8 with less than 40 seconds to go. Juniors Matt Gramling and Jordan Pratt led the Brahmas with 17 points each, while seniorĀ Jace Amaro chipped in with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

The Brahmas will hope to rebound after back-to-back losses with their next gameĀ against the Lee Volunteers on January 15.

“We expect to play hard as always, and if we do that then we will be satisfied at the end of every game,” Murphy said.
