Luminaria is an outdoor and indoor expose of art, where artists can win a chance at showcasing their creativity through dance, media arts, music, theatre/preformance, visual art, or literary compisitions. It is always held in Hemisfair Park, free of charge, and open to all of San Antonio’s citizens, so they may gain an unforgettable experience in celebrating the arts.

San Antonio’s name for the event originated from the 2002 “White Nights” in Paris, France. This was an attempt at having contemporary art open to everyone in public places in order to inspire involvement and communication in the community about art.
