The Walking Dead Season 6 Half Season Update

The first episode of the second half of season six of The Walking Dead aired Feb. 14, and it really hit the ground running. For those of you that haven’t seen the new episodes or haven’t caught up to the current season, this is a spoiler warning, read beyond this point at your own risk.

Some things that I’m gonna talk about are just some of the future characters that will be or may be appearing in the show and some predictions about what is going to happen later on in the show based on the graphic novels.

For future characters that will appear in the show, one very important character has already been confirmed with an actor. The antagonist that has only been mentioned so far, Negan, will be showing up very soon. In the graphic novels, Negan is the slightly psychotic and very strong leader of a group called the Saviors. They are basically the bullies of the apocalypse, offering “protection” to other groups in return for half of everyone’s supplies. Jeffery Dean Morgan will be playing Negan in the show, which is actually a pretty good fit. For those of you who have watched the show Supernatural, Morgan plays John Winchester, to give some of you an idea of his acting style. Personally, I think Morgan will do a fantastic job as Negan, since his acting style goes toward the dark side. What will be interesting to see is how the script writers will write the dialogue for Negan, as he curses more than a sailor who just stubbed his toe. Also, how they will show Lucille, Negan’s barbed-wire wrapped baseball bat that, in the graphic novels, Negan talks to and says that “she” has very murderous needs.

Some predictions to be made about what is going to happen are some that may make some fans of the show less than happy. The first and most major prediction is Glenn’s (Steven Yeun) death. In the graphic novels, the first time Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) group meets Negan, Negan makes an example out of Glenn by bashing his head in with Lucille. As Glenn in the show has been gaining more and more popularity as of late, they may shift this death to being someone else. But honestly, Glenn has used up 18 of his nine lives, so to speak. He has come so close to death lately that the directors may be preparing viewers for his actual death. When and if this happens, it won’t be until the very end of the current season or possibly the start of the new season.

Next is the war that ensues after Glenn’s death. This will only happen after the members of Alexandria have met with a close by community with very high walls and a much larger community called the Hilltop. They are introduced to this community by a character named “Jesus” (which is only a nickname because of his looks). When they will introduce Jesus into the show and who will portray him will be fun to see, because they will have to be able to move very well and do some very martial arts style movements.

Some very important and big things are going to be happening in this next half of season six of The Walking Dead. With the introduction of a new main antagonist, to the deaths of some characters, and some new communities possibly coming up, this is a season that fans of the show and graphic novels alike will not want to miss.
