“This performance is the orchestra winter concert, it’ll be on [Dec] 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium, and all four orchestras will be performing. Varsity orchestra will be accompanied by the varsity choir, as well as some band members,” sophomore bassist Madelynn Mayer said.

The orchestra performance will be the last of the three performances held, and is not part of any competition.

“With the non UIL Orchestra, we’ll be playing music from Frozen, and in varsity, we’ll be performing Troika by Prokofiev, and with the choir we’ll be playing Fum Fum Fum, Three Noels, and Infant Holy Infant Lowly,” Mayer said.

The Johnson band will be performing on thursday, [Dec] 12, starting at 7 p.m., and the choir will be hosting their winter recital on monday [Dec] ninth, starting at 6:30 p.m. , and their Holiday recital the following day, [Dec] 10, starting at 7 p.m. All of these performances will also be held at the auditorium.

“All five of our concert bands are performing in the auditorium. We will be performing holiday music for the season for bands two, three, and four at 6:45-8 . The wind ensemble will perform all 10 pieces we are performing at Midwest in Chicago on [Dec] 19 from 8:15-9:15 p.m. ,” Band Director Jarett Lipman said.

The band performance is not part of a competition, however the band is preparing for an upcoming concert in Chicago.

“This music is all part of holiday performance, except for the first band, who is playing at the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic the following week on [Dec] 19,” Lipman said.

The Midwest clinic will be taking place from Dec 17 -20, and is recognised as being one of the biggest music educational conferences in the world.
