Quest For the Dress

Admit it ladies: prom dress shopping serves as the epicenter of all stresses, next to finding a date. Reasons behind the nervousness over elegant apparel stem from the costly prices.

“I think [an ideal price range is] between $100-$250 since girls usually just use a dress ONE time. I don’t know though, it’s kind of hard to find a prom dress in that range,” senior Gabby Ordonez said.

What’s even more frustrating than searching for the perfect gown, is explaining to others why young women are so particular with selecting something different.

“Everyone at Prom wants to look their best and feel the most beautiful. To girls, I think it’s important having an individual dress [that]  allows us to stand out in a crowd,” Ashly Hanovice, senior, said.

Now that that question is solved, the next challenge is to actually find a place to look. Some students are starting to look at general department stores first, before going to a boutique.

“I found some really cute [dresses] at Kohl’s and Dillard’s,” Kim Nowlin, senior, said.

Out of those shops, Dillard’s proves to be the most popular.

“Dillard’s has the best selection and best dresses in my opinion. The overall price provides one less cost and trip to make because they have such a broad [variety],” Lindsey Kissling, senior, said.

The immense collection of prom dresses might be a turn off to others though, who vie to wear a distinct gown. Nordstrom’s at The Rim is a potential hotspot for that select group of people.

“If you’re willing to pay [alot of money], the Nordstrom’s rack has a lot of good sales, with $400 dresses being marked down to $150,” Valeria Acevedo, senior, said.

Regardless, it’s best to set out and look early.

“[I’m looking] everywhere. If you start soon enough, you can get the pretty [dresses] online,” Mary Moscosa, junior, said.

For those who are currently procrastinating with their Prom purchase, here are two options you can also look into:
