With multiple ways to prepare for the SAT, students must figure out which is right for them.
Applying for colleges and scholarships can be overwhelming but there are plenty of apps that can simplify the process. Some of the best apps are listed below:
Late nights, early mornings, and never-ending cram sessions in between describes the typical student during SAT/ACT season. Students are preparing for the upcoming tests and, although most students are aware of the tests, some students still lack information about them. Counselor Cortney Tarbox helps explain the difference as well as the similarities between the SAT/ACT.
In March 2016, several students were among the first group of people to take the new version of the SAT. Although the test has changed a bit, the preparation process is still important.
Starting in March, College Board will administer a new version of the SAT that will be graded on a 400-1600 scoring system, provide students with up to 3 hours and 50 minutes to take the exam, including an optional 50-minute essay, no guessing penalty, and can also be taken via print or computer format.
“I think they re-designed the SAT to better reflect current students who are learning in school,” counselor Desiree Meza said. “The way the questions are now being ordered [is] a lot [more] straightforward, before they were more confusing. So I think they are lining it more with the structure the way the SAT was [originally] designed.”
Beginning in March, the revised SAT will be the new college prep exam available to all students. With these changes to the exam being put into place, such as an optional essay and up to three hours and 50 minutes to take the exam, a wave of new courses and prep classes will also follow
