Showing up late to class. Not turning in homework. Lack of effort in class. Procrastinating on assignments. These are just a few of the characteristics that can be identified among seniors, especially during the second semester, as college admissions letters arrive and priorities slip for some students.
Now that the second semester has started, many seniors are preparing themselves for what is to come now that they are on the last lap to graduation. Acceptance letters are flying in for many while others haven’t even started applying. For all of those who have been accepted, the race isn’t over yet. There is still so much students need to do before they can officially call themselves a college freshman.
With second semester just around the corner, applying to college becomes a stressing thought for some seniors. As the admissions requirements become increasingly more stringent, simply having good grades may not be enough to gain acceptance into your dream college.
At the end of their junior year, soon-to-be seniors excitedly fill out their course cards, in anticipation to finally graduate - and that’s when they realize they might be missing some needed credits.
Attention seniors: here’s one more thing you can add to your list of ‘things I can do but no one else in the school can’. You can vote and not only that, but, the school provides the registration progress.
This school year, the introduction of Google Classroom has facilitated a rise in the assigning of online homework, especially in Pre-Calculus classes.
Second semester of senior year is a blissful feeling like no other. you can skip an entire week of school and not miss a thing probably. But what happens when that one week turns into 100+ days of absences. Saturday school is what you would think of but as of late, that chance for redemptions has been ceased. Yeah, no more quick 3-period long Starbucks trips.
They’re still among us, mingling with the population of doers or have-done-ers, the kids that never did (and won’t) get class or school or homework quite figured out.
As the school year winding down, the class of 2015 is getting ready for their “senior traditions”. Aside from graduation, each year the senior class comes up with little side games and “pranks” to keep the remainder of the year entertaining.
This year the biggest game the seniors put on is a game called “JHS Assassin”. This tradition is a game where seniors “fight to the death” and stalk their targets until they shoot them with a water gun.
Every year the senior class is allowed to showcase their wide variety of talents. This year the show takes place on March 30 in the auditorium, for the class of 2015.
